The construction work for GROUP7’s new logistics center is proceeding quickly. In close proximity to Frankfurt Airport the roofing ceremony was celebrated today. Numerous guests from politics, industry and media showed up.

At the event around 230 guests were able to gain an impression of the construction progress of the state-of-the-art multi-user warehouse. On the approximately 41,000 square meter property, which is located in close proximity to Frankfurt Airport, a 25,500 square meter logistics center and a 1,700 square meter office building are being constructed.

"I thank everyone involved, especially the city of Kelsterbach, for their great support in the implementation of this construction project. Construction going ahead as planned and we look forward to moving in as of Q3 of 2018”, said Günther Jocher, GROUP7 Managing Director.

Kelsterbach Mayor Manfred Ockel is particularly pleased over the economic importance of the project: "The city of Kelsterbach is glad to have an attractive employer like GROUP7 here in the future. GROUP7 shows that the Kelsterbach location is also an attractive choice for future-oriented, innovative logistics companies and that it holds all the necessary conditions for this future-oriented industry in terms of infrastructure", says Manfred Ockel during the roofing ceremony. In total GROUP7 is investing 27 million euro in the new location and creating 100 new jobs for the region.

The logistics center will be equipped with state-of-the-art technology and the latest technological highlights. In addition to newest scanning technologies, it will also have driverless transport systems and advanced 3D printing technology. A high rack storage system with more than 12,000 pallet slots allows long-term and flexible storage of goods. There is also an area for the safe storage of substances of water hazard class 3 - WGK3 in the new center.

The 25,500 square meter multi-user warehouse will take on the role of a central handling and consolidation hub for international import and export air freight shipments in addition to contract logistics tasks. By expanding the handling area, it will be possible in the future to consolidate consignments more efficiently and thus further increase the benefit for GROUP7 customers. The central location within Germany as well as the immediate proximity to the Frankfurt airport provide ideal conditions to be used as an international hub for cross-border eCommerce. From here, import and export traffic in the B2C and B2B sectors will also be controlled in the future.

In the immediate vicinity of the Frankfurter Kreuz, the largest traffic hub in Europe, and located directly on the Dreieck Mönchhof motorway, the site can be reached quickly and easily.
