The WE DO DIGITAL Award 2018 in the category Logistics was awarded to GROUP7 in Hanover on Tuesday. The German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DIHK) honors particularly courageous models of digital transformation. Following the motto: Learning from each other is crucial in order to advance digitalization across the country. The jury identified the winners in ten different categories and selected GROUP7 as the nationwide winner in the Logistics category.

3D printing is an integral part of Logistics 4.0 and allows time-critical products to be produced decentrally and individually for our customers. GROUP7 uses resources consistently and organized so that people, machines, markets and goods are networked faster, more efficiently and more sustainably. Together with one of our customers from the toy manufacturing sector, we have implemented a pilot project on digitalization / logistics 4.0. "The customer had asked if we would support product development with our 3D printers in the field of prototype and spare parts production in Germany. So far, the prototypes and spare parts have been manufactured in Tunisia or China, and every time the product was changed, a time-consuming transport route had to be organized ", says Hubert Borghoff, Head of Logistics and Vice President at GROUP7.

"Digitalization has been an important topic for GROUP7 for many years and our organization has evolved from a logistics company to being a provider of many complex value added services in the logistics sector. Our digital transformation affects the entire company - from the organization to the logistics processes", adds Hubert Borghoff. “We are very pleased to receive this award. It shows us that we are headed in the right direction."
